Shining the Frock Spot on: Chloe Haseltine

We're continuing to shine the Frock Spot on our top ten fundraisers and today the spotlight turns to the fabulous Chloe Haseltine.  Chloe joined our team at the end of the first week of Frocktober and rapidly made up speed.  She currently has the title of Frockette with the largest individual donation, one generous soul donating a whopping $500 to this frockin' good cause.

Meet Chloe!

Describe yourself in a couple of sentences.

Public servant by day, millinery student by night and frock fabulous as often as I can! I love dressing up, any excuse will do be it a night on the town, a party or just because I feel like it. I have been told I'm eccentric before and I was little worried that being 24 and having one dog and no cats this was too young, but I've embraced it because nothing is going to change about me!
I have a very colourful dress sense, a packed wardrobe filled with colour, I have a few vintage dresses and others I've had made for me by my friend Joyce, I buy loud vintage print fabric and together we work on a design for the dress. I always accessorise with high heels, earrings and, as often as I can, a hat!  (the two pictures included are me in 1960's inspired outfits at a party)

Why Frocktober?

Because I've been a long time supporter of Movember and I was waiting for a similar fun challenge for ladies! Pit-tember* just wasn't going to do it for me (*an idea that crossed my mind but it was never going to gain any popular momentum). I'm also a big supporter of raising awareness of womens issues because too often to their detriment women put others before themselves

What made you choose to be involved?

I decided to join in because I could, I knew I had enough dresses and my friends would get behind me, so together we could raise some much needed funds and awareness about ovarian cancer.

Do you have a personal story or connection with Ovarian Cancer?

I do not have a close personal story about ovarian cancer although I do know that my great grandmother died from it and friends when donating have told me their stories about lost loved ones. I hope that in my lifetime we can find a cure or at the very least a test so that women can get tested for it and not find out too late.

What has been the best thing so far for you about the month?

All the lovely comments I've got about my dresses! I am also really proud of how much money I've been able to raise and how generous my friends and family are. I think the ACT community can also be really proud of the amount raised by all the team!

Is there a favourite frock in your wardrobe?  Why is your favourite? How does it make you feel?

I have so many frocks it's hard to choose a favourite but my three favourites are all made for me by my friend Joyce, a red and white one, a brown and orange 70's print (think the tiles/lino in a Nana's kitchen) and a blue floral one, They are in the style of 1960's Jackie O dresses, they are all super comfortable and all I need to do it put one on and I feel dressed to impress. The other great thing is that they all fit like a glove (the joys  tailor made!),I feel like a million dollars and they only cost me a few dollars each for the fabric at garage sales and op shops etc and I always get nice comments on how pretty the dresses are.

What's your message for the month?

Have fun and remember ladies to look after yourself!
