Frocktacular Fundraising: St Edmund's College Raises Over $2000

Canberra schools are known for their amazing community engagement and St Edmund's College at Manuka is no exception.

The College saw Frocktober as a wonderful opportunity to raise funds and educate their students about the impact of ovarian cancer, as well as providing support to members of the student community whose families had been touched by the disease.

On the 22nd of October, staff held a morning tea  and encouraged all female staff members to don the Frock.  Some particularly brave staff members volunteered to wear "special occasion frocks" for additional sponsorship.

There were two wedding dresses, a number of bridesmaids dresses and some truly spectacular frocks as you are able to see from the photos.  (Note: Frocktober Canberra were particularly impressed with the efforts of the winner of best dressed male Mr David O'Brien.  Nothing like a well dressed Frockafella to accessorise a good frock!)

The whole school community was extremely supportive, especially after staff took the time to talk to their students about Ovarian Cancer and how devastating it can be. There were many stories of amazing generosity from students who have had a family member affected by Ovarian Cancer. In total, St Edmund's raised an amazing $2102.35 for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) putting them as one of organisations to beat in the prize for most fund's raised by a Canberra workplace.

The prize will be awarded at the Frocktober Finale Party, 3pm to 7pm, Sunday 31 October 2010.  Tickets to the exclusive event are available from the Frock Fringe.

Congratulations to St Edmunds for a frocktacular result!

  1. Thanks for sharing this article, I've really enjoyed reading this. I have recently discovered the amazing work that Listen Ltd Fundraising do, they have helped out so many different charities. So far they have helped raise over £150 million on behalf of charities!
