What is your favourite thing about fashion in Canberra?
I love that living in Canberra we get to experience all seasons. We can have fun in the heat with gorgeous summer frocks and wear a vintage fur coat in winter to keep warm. I like how people in Canberra are starting to take risks with fashion and developing their individual style without fear of what others will think.
Do you have a favourite frock? Why is it your favourite?
So hard to pick just one… But one of my favourites is a gorgeous 50s frock I bought from a vintage fair in Sydney. It has layered tulle and a floral beaded bodice. I love this frock because it is just so beautiful to look at and every time I put it on it makes me feel special.
What made you become a designer?
In 2005 I completed a Bachelor of Design, Fashion Design at the Canberra Institute of Technology. Since then I decided to focus on my main passion, vintage. So I created my vintage clothing and accessories label Liebe Bluhm, which is stocked at itrip iskip in Braddon.
I have always loved vintage clothing, accessories and furniture. I love that each piece has a history, has been loved by someone and that love is then passed on to the next person.
What is your main message to women for this season?
My message has always being no matter what the season, I believe that every day should be treated like a special occasion... Use the nice teacups, wear the pretty dress and surround yourself with people and special pieces that bring your life joy.
Doesn't she sound delightful? Take the opportunity to see her great designs tomorrow night at "An Evening Frocktacular" (tickets $28 + booking fee, limited tickets available at the door).
