Here's our chat with Tahlia who designs the Dorothy & Mr Lee label.

What is your favourite thing about fashion in Canberra?

Canberrans are a diverse mix of people drawn together often by the public service employment opportunities here. We have fashion  flavors from Perth , Melbourne, Brisbane, and all over the country. With the strong sense of community and acceptance here, all matter of looks and trends are embraced allowing Canberra to be the most individual fashion melding pot in Australia.

Do you have a favourite frock?  Why is it your favourite?

To be totally honest I can't say i  have a favorite...I feel like my other dresses will get jealous if i wear one more than the other!

What made you become a designer?

The clothing industry totally fascinates me, its has the most crazy, flamboyant people in such a bricks and mortar role with clothing being an essential part of living. I love the creative process from the initial fashion illustrations, to pattern-making, to seeing ladies faces light up when they find this 'must have treasure' for their wardrobe!

What is your main message to women for this season?

Step out of your comfort zone and don't follow what the magazines tell you to wear!
Trends are not important, you must pay attention to what makes you feel good, express who you are and try new things!
